Mesh covers are able to sift out the leaves and debris, yet allow water to pass through the cover. There is no need to place a pump on top of the cover to remove water. The cover can hold a large amount of weight and is nearly impossible for a small toddler to remove the cover. When the cover is on, nobody is getting into the pool.
Solid covers work just like the mesh cover except that the cover is solid and does not allow the water to go through the cover. If you are trying to keep any water from getting into the pool then the solid cover is a great choice.
